This language of classification is important for young students as it provides them with a means to organize and understand their world.<\/p>\n  <p><span class=\"Blue_hi-lite_noItalics\"><strong>Materials:<\/strong><\/span><br>\n\t\t&#8211; none <br>\n\t<span class=\"Blue_hi-lite_noItalics\"><strong>Grouping:<\/strong><\/span> partners <\/p>\n\t\t<h2 id=\"Playing_the_Game\"> <span class=\"heading2\">Playing the Game<\/span>\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t<ol>\n\t\t<li>Stand facing your partner. Decide who will be Partner A and Partner B.<\/li>\n\t\t<li>Partner A goes first and examines Partner B carefully, looking for things that are the same about both partners (e.g., \u201cWe are both wearing T-shirts.\u201d \u201cWe both have short hair.\u201d \u201cWe both have freckles.\u201d).<\/li>\n\t\t<li>On the signal, switch roles and Partner B looks for similarities.<\/li>\n\t\t<li>On the next signal, switch roles again and this time look for things that are different (e.g., \u201cI am wearing a blue T-shirt and you are wearing a green T-shirt.\u201d \u201cWe are both wearing running shoes but my shoes are black and yours are white.\u201d \u201cI have brown hair and you have blonde hair.\u201d)<\/li>\n\t\t<li>On the final signal, switch roles one more time and look for differences.<\/li>\n\t\t<li>Share your ideas with the whole class.<\/li>\n\t\t<\/ol>\n\t\t<h3 id=\"Variation\"><span class=\"Heading3\">Variation<\/span><\/h3>\n\t\t<ul>\n\t\t<li>Use the Conversation Cards from the Grade 1 Oral Language Kit and provide each pair of students with a card. Have partners meet with another pair to compare the images on their conversation cards. Ask, \u201cWhat is the same about your cards?
