Or, we can show how we feel\nthrough our actions and how we look.\nThis is called body language. How do\nyou show that you are happy? Do you\ndo it through actions, words, or both?<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tAsk students how they show that they are happy. Model if needed. (Making connections]<\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>Offer prompts to stimulate oral sharing and discussion:\n\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t<li>What words do you use to tell people that you are happy? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>How does your mouth look? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>What do your eyes do? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>Does your body move? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>Show me what that looks like. <br>\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>Ask students to tell a partner what happens when they are happy:\n\t\t\t<ul>\n\t\t\t<li>How do you feel? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>How do you say you are feeling happy? <\/li>\n\t\t\t<li>What does your face look like? <br>\n\t\t\tStudents can discuss in partners and then ask a few partners to share their ideas with the class. <br>\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<p><strong>Note: <\/strong> If you are using this plan later in the year, you may wish to ask students to discuss either feeling happy or sad. You could then add other feelings to the discussion. <\/p>\n\t\t\t<ul>\n<li><p class=\"speach-bubble left\">Think about how you look, how you feel, and\nhow you show that you are happy. Draw\nyourself being happy. What do you look like\nwhen you are happy? How will you show\nyour face, hands, body, or movement? You\ncan include words, as well. You may want to\ninclude in your drawing something that\nmakes you feel happy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tInvite students to paint or draw pictures of themselves being happy. Encourage students to share ideas with a partner.<\/li>\n\t\t\t<\/ul>      <ul>\n\t\t\t<li>As students draw or paint, circulate and talk to them about their pictures. Encourage them to print an idea about their picture at the bottom or top of the piece of paper. They may wish to use speech bubbles for their words. You may ask students who need more support to dictate their ideas while you scribe them. Always reread a scribed message with the student. \n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li><p class=\"speach-bubble left\">What emotion are you showing?\nHow are you showing that emotion? Are\nyou using words or only body\nlanguage to show that emotion? Did\nyou include something to show why\nyou were happy?<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\tStudents can share their pictures with partners. Select a few students to share their pictures and writing with the class.
